5 May 2026, SP Energy Networks submitted a Pre Application Notice to Scottish Borders Council for a substation at Threepwood, near Lauder. This gives them 18 months (4 November 2027) to run two public consultations and submit a full Planning Application to SBC.
You can see from the plan above that SPEN intends to salami slice three major projects converging on one site. We have added in red lines for where Dunlaw ext, Cross Border Connection and Harburn-Galanorth would all go, if consented.
Despite this being a major infrastructure proposal that would impact across the Borders, SP Energy Networks has only put on exhibitions for two consecutive days at Lauder and Blainslie. If you would like to attend the exhibition but can’t make these dates and times, you can email SPEN’s PR Agency, Grayling on info@galanorth.com and ask them to put on more dates.
Tuesday 9 June 3-7 pm at Lauder Public Hall, TD2 6TD
Wednesday 10 June 3-7pm at Blainslie Village Hall, TD1 2QF
