Ditcher Law Renewable Energy Development

Ditcher Law Limited, an associated company of E Power Ltd, submitted a planning application to the Energy Consents Unit (ECU) for the development of a wind farm at Ditcher Law in 2023. E Power hopes the project will comprise 8 wind turbines, with 5 turbines up to 200m tip height and 3 turbines up to 180m tip height with a total generation capacity of approximately 52.8MW. In addition, it is proposed to include 30MW of battery storage capacity.

Now called Ditcher Law Renewable Energy Development, it may eventually be located approximately 3.5km north of Oxton and 8km northwest of Lauder, Scottish Borders.

Project Timeline

  • March 2023 – Plans for Ditcher Law Wind Farm and associated infrastructure put out to public consultation

  • September 2023 – Ditcher Law Wind Farm planning application sent to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit (ECU)

  • September/October 2023 – Consultation period for the planning application

  • April 2025 – Additional Information submitted to Scottish Ministers, including an addendum to the original Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report

  • April/May 2025 – Consultation period for the Additional Information submission

  • September 2025 – Scottish Borders Council planning committee objected to the application.

  • February 2026 – The Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit in Glasgow granted permission.

  • March 2026 – E Power sought an extension on planning permission for a met mast
