Galileo has written to local Community Council chairmen to flag up the latest round of consultations for the latest attempt at a windfarm on Rowantree Law. Rowantree Law is on the north western side of Lauder Common.

I am emailing to inform the Community Council of the events Galileo Empower are holding to further consult the local community on our updated proposals for the Longmuir Renewable Energy and Biodiversity Project.

Since holding our first round of formal consultation in April 2025, we have been reviewing the comments received and further refining our proposals, informed by stakeholder feedback and the findings of ongoing site survey work.

The local community will be invited to meet the project team and discuss the updated proposals on the following dates:

Tuesday 17 March

12pm – 3pm Memorial Hall, Station Road, Oxton TD2 6PL

4.30pm – 7.30pm Lauder Community and Leisure Centre, Old Causeway, E High Street, Lauder TD2 6SX

Wednesday 18 March

3.30pm – 6.30pm Fountainhall Village Hall, Old Stage Road, Fountainhall TD1 2SY

Thursday 19 March

4pm – 7pm Stow Town Hall, 1 Earlston Road, Stow TD1 2QS

We will be sending invitations to local households and will be advertising the events in local newspapers, on social media and through community posters.

If the Community Council is also able to promote these events through your channels, we would be very grateful.

Quote of the week

“Every breath of air we take, every mouthful of food that we take, comes from the natural world. And if we damage the natural world, we damage ourselves.”

~ David Attenborough
